1. Who we are

iTechLounge Ltd (“we”, “us”) trading as LessonAhead is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at privacy@lessonahead.co.uk.

2. Data we collect

  • Account details: name, email, phone number, postcode and role (learner, parent, instructor, school).
  • Learning data: lesson bookings, lesson notes, skill progress in your Learning Passport and test-readiness scores.
  • Instructor data: ADI/PDI badge number, vehicle and insurance details submitted for verification.
  • Payment data: subscription and lesson payment records. Card details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us.
  • Technical data: device, browser, IP address and cookie identifiers (see our Cookie Policy).

3. Why we use it and our legal bases

  • Contract — to create accounts, match learners with instructors, run bookings, messaging and payments.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the platform safe, verify instructors, prevent fraud and improve the service.
  • Consent — for optional analytics and marketing cookies and for marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — to meet accounting, tax and safeguarding requirements.

4. Sharing

We share data with the instructor or school you book with, with a parent or guardian only where a learner has enabled sharing, and with service providers such as hosting, payments, mapping and masked-calling suppliers acting on our instructions. We do not sell personal data.

5. Under-18 learners

Learners aged 17 may use LessonAhead. Parent or guardian visibility is controlled by the learner through the Learning Passport sharing settings and can be revoked at any time.

6. Retention

We keep account and learning records for as long as your account is active and for up to six years afterwards where needed for legal, tax or dispute purposes. Cookie data is kept for the periods set out in the Cookie Policy.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email privacy@lessonahead.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

8. Security and transfers

Data is encrypted in transit and access is limited to staff who need it. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on adequacy decisions or the International Data Transfer Addendum.

9. Changes

We will update this page and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
